From Naming to Building

Builders need tools to complete projects. The number of tools they may use is countless. All a person needs to do is walk into any home improvement store, and they will see a small sampling of those tools.

Builders use some tools regularly, while others are only needed randomly. They don’t want to invest capital in items that will sit idle for the majority of the time. In these situations, they turn to rental companies to obtain the items. For example, they may reach out to a rental provider for a track loader or a big box home improvement store for a specialty drill. What tools should they have available at all times?

Hammers

Every builder needs a claw hammer. Most households currently have this tool because it is incredibly versatile. However, a builder may need other types of hammers, including ball-peen hammers, rubber mallets, and sledgehammers. The builder should also have a range of nails designed for different purposes. Builders may want to invest in multiple hammers of several types, so workers won’t sit idle waiting for their turn to use the specific hammer they need.

Power Drills

Power drills are an essential tool on construction sites. While a hammer and nails can be used for many tasks, there are times when the builder must drill something. Having a power drill on hand makes this job easy. When purchasing a drill, the buyer must decide between a model with a power cord and battery-operated versions. Cordless drills are excellent for areas where cords may get in the way of the work being done. However, builders also need the corded version because the battery life of cordless models is short. Furthermore, they should have spare drill bits on hand for when one wears down. The job won’t need to stop while a new one is obtained.

Screwdrivers

Every builder needs multiple Philips and flathead screwdrivers. These tools can be used to lift weights or fasten objects together. Screws are better than nails when it comes to holding things together, and they are also easier to remove. Flathead versions are used for slotted screws, while Philips head screwdrivers work with screwheads that resemble a plus sign. Electric screwdrivers are an option every person should consider, and many power drills can now accept special bits that function as screwdrivers.

Saws

Saws are needed to cut materials on job sites. Building materials must be cut to size, so a builder needs to have one or more available. Power saws are more common than manual versions on job sites, but both may be present. Builders might use jigsaws and table saws, but circular saws are more popular. They can easily be moved around a job site, and the builder can invest in various saw blades to cut different materials.

Level and Tape Measure

Every builder needs a level and a tape measure with them at all times. Most people are familiar with the proverb, “measure twice, cut once“. Accurate measurements reduce the time needed to complete a project and reduce waste on the job site. Levels ensure materials are plumb. Conventional lasers have a bubble or spirit level that the builder uses to determine whether the surface is level. When the bubble is in the center of the window, the item is plumb. Many builders have now invested in laser levels to make the process of determining whether an item is plumb easier.

Builders use many other tools on job sites. Some tools they invest in; others they rent. The frequency of use determines which option is best. However, every builder should partner with a rental provider so they know where to turn when tools of any size are needed. This provider will gladly assist the builder in obtaining whatever they need to complete the job.
